Once again, Sucker Punch’s hit game Ghost of Tsushima is making headlines. After a year’s worth of incredible success for their samurai RPG, Sucker Punch still has more coming for fans of Ghost of Tsushima. On August 4th, Sucker Punch announced that Ghost of Tsushima’s Legends Mode, the multiplayer option for the single-player game, will be released as a standalone version of the game.
Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, as a standalone game, will be released on September 3rd and will cost players 19.99 USD. Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will include all of the previous updates to the Legends game mode, as well as include all future updates for no additional cost. This new multiplayer alternative to the full version of the game provides fans who want to test the waters of Ghost of Tsushima an opportunity to try out the game with some friends for a lower price. And, should players decide they want to try the solo version as well, they can upgrade their Ghost of Tsushima: Legends version to the Director’s Cut for 40.00 USD. And for those who already own the full version, fear not! Ghost of Tsushima‘s Legends game mode will continue to be available to players who own the full version for no extra charge.
And even bigger news yet: Sucker Punch has announced that a whole new game mode, titled ‘Rivals’, will be coming to Ghost of Tsushima. The new Rivals game mode is a multiplayer PVP setting, where two teams of two face off against waves of enemies to collect Magatama. Magatama can then be spent to sabotage the opposing team by sapping their health or limiting their spending options. Once a team has spent enough Magatama, the Final Stand wave will arrive, and whichever team defeats it first wins!
The Rivals game mode will also introduce the new Gear Mastery System into the multiplayer game modes of Ghost of Tsushima. Essentially how it works is players can bind their equipment to a certain class in order to gain new benefits, such as an increased level cap for their gear upgrades. The new level cap for gear upgrades will be Lv. 120, which also will allow for players to add a second perk slot to their gear. Players can also use Mastery Challenges to unlock new Abilities and Techniques for each class.
Ghost of Tsushima’s Rivals mode will arrive on both the full version of Ghost of Tsushima as well as Ghost of Tsushima: Legends on September 3rd, and will be free to download.
But the news doesn’t stop there for Ghost of Tsushima. In alignment with the release of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, on August 20th, Sucker Punch will be updating the Legends game mode to rebalance the Survival mode and introduce the new weekly Survival Nightmare challenges. This new update will also bring new cosmetics to the Legends game mode, so make sure you’re ready to gear up!
And there’s still more! Starting on September 10th and lasting all the way until October 1st, Sucker Punch will be releasing new content every week to excite fans even more about what’s to come.
“In addition to all of the above, we’ll be adding a new piece of content each week from September 10 through October 1, including an additional Rivals map, new Survival maps inspired by Iki Island and Iyo’s realm, and Trials of Iyo…”
So to make a long story short, Ghost of Tsushima still has plenty of new content to keep fans enticed with the story and world of the award-winning game. And if you want to get in on all of the action, Ghost of Tsushima is available for download or purchase on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for $59.99 on the PS4 or $69.99 on the PS5.
