SeithCG, the small team behind Ghost of a Tale, has revealed that the console release for the game is coming next month. Ghost of a Tale is an action-RPG which has players play as Tilo, a mouse minstrel. Players will explore a medieval world and experience a unique adventure in a “world populated only by animals”. Since Tilo is a mouse, there isn’t much room to brute force through enemies. Using clever tactics such as stealth will allow players to progress through the game and find Merra, Tilo’s true love.
The man who is primarily behind the project should be mentioned. Lionel Gallat was an animator and animation director at DreamWorks and Universal Pictures who had worked on movies such as The Prince of Egypt and The Road to El Dorado among other notable projects. The world of the game is very obviously inspired by The Secret of Nimh and Disney’s Robin Hood, as is evident by the world populated entirely by animals. The game itself takes inspiration from games such as Ico and Dark Souls.
Ghost of a Tale was crowdfunded back in 2013 and the notably small team at SeithCG has been hard at work ever since. While the game had an early version released in 2016 for PC and Xbox One at one point, the full version only released last March for PC. The console release was originally meant to come a few weeks earlier than it is now, the pushback was so it would be possible to send out “review codes before the release day.” While there is no explicit announcement yet by the team on a potential port to the Nintendo Switch, the team has stated that they “would love to.”
While the PC version is available right now, Ghost of a Tale will release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on March 12.
