Gears of War 4’s April Update Detailed

As April is officially here, The Coalition has finally revealed the update notes for the next Gears of War 4 update in an Xbox Wire post. The new update will feature some cool Easter Event props, tuning changes, new maps, and ranked player improvements.

As with every big holiday in the past, Gears of War 4 will provide players with some fun new character add ons to make the holiday a little more fun. To start off, the Easter Event will begin with a new game mode called Bunny Hunt, which obviously will bring back the creepy bunny heads. Players will also have a chance to get five new chocolate easter egg themed weapon skins if they register on GearsofWar.com and complete the challenges in the new game mode. More information for the event will be detailed later on before the event begins on April 14th.

The new maps being added will be spotted immediately by players who enjoyed Gears of War 3. The first map will be Hotel, which to most means a good time. It will now be set, “on a misty cliff-side, with a long-abandoned reclaimed beauty look that feels right at home in Gears 4. Combat still has a distinct feel between the inside and outside environments, with the longer-range street fight clearly separated from the frantic cover-to-cover battle on the interior. New weapon swaps like the EMBAR now appear on the map, freshening up the familiarity of Hotel and having you learn an old favorite all over again”

The other map being added to the list will be The Slab, set in cell block 38 where the original Gears of War series began. When designing this map they noted that they wanted to keep it true to the original as possible. They updated the graphics and included a wind flare in the background. “The Slab has a unique two-lane opening separated by an interior courtyard, encouraging plenty of Gnasher and ranged combat despite the smaller size of the map.”

If you’re currently a Season Pass holder then you can begin playing the maps today if they go to the developer playlist. If you play the maps easy with the season pass you’ll also get access to double XP and 20% bonus credits. For all others, the maps will become available on April 11th.
