Gearbox, the developer responsible for the Borderlands series has recently revealed some details on their next project called Project 1v1. The game will be a first person shooter just like Borderlands but will offer a different experience from RPG shooter blend. There is not much known about the project except that it is described as “competitive first-person shooter that combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game.”
The developer sent out an email to some fans and has some info on the game’s official website, however there aren’t many more details contained from any of those resources either. Even though there isn’t much news out about the new game a few people will have the chance to play the new project fairly soon. Sign ups for a short technical test that will take place sometime this summer has been posted on Gearbox’s website as well. Players in other parts of the world are able to sign up but the servers for the beta will be hosted in North America so it might not run as well for others across the globe. Also the beta will only include a limited number of players.
The overall purpose of the test is to “test the online infrastructure and learn what players like you think about the game in order to inform and influence future development.” The test will contain three different game modes; Challenge which lets players take on a friend, Arena which lets the player take on the current arena champion, and Ranked where players will play against others with similar skills. Winning in the ranked mode will give players more experience and crates which will give them more cards. The beta sign up requires a Steam account which may suggest that the game will be PC only at least this time.
