Boy NCsoft has been quite busy lately huh? First their trailer for Cinder City makes waves at Gamescom 2025 and now we’ve got a gameplay trailer for their next production, Time Takers:

Definitely a change of tone from Cinder City’s attempts at a realistic somber tone, Time Takers is unapologetically cartoony both in premise and presentation: multiple people are stolen from across time and space to take part in a giant battle royale. From just the trailer alone the standouts would be the knight, what appears to be a K-pop star, a samurai, and… a monkey who throws banana bombs. They’re definitely shooting for something wacky and colorful here. The latest in a long list of hero arena PvP shooters that have hit the market in the past few years, NCsoft is definitely taking a risk with Time Takers as this particular genre of game is falling somewhat out of favor, yet as the success of NetEase’s Marvel Rivals shows us there’s still a market for people who want to take control of a colorful cast of characters and shoot each other in enclosed spaces.

The general gameplay seems to be very reminiscent of other games in its genre: you are put on a team and you can select from a roster of wacky characters, each with unique skills and talents and equipment and customizable through cosmetics.

If you’re the type that’s been hankering for another multiplayer PvP shooter than maybe you can give Time Takers a shot. Its full release will be free so really the only thing you have to worry about losing is… time. It’s available for wishlisting on Steam right now and the playtest should be available soon, so if you’re interested in this be sure to wishlist it and keep an eye on its status.
