At Gamescom 2025, Konami unveiled the story trailer for their game Silent Hill f the newest in its incredibly popular Silent Hill franchise, a Japanese psychological horror experience.

In the newest game, you’ll play a Japanese girl called Hinako Shimizu, located in the secluded town of Ebisugaoka. One day, the town is consumed by an all-enveloping fog, and her beloved home becomes a living nightmare. The silence of the town becomes deafening as she wanders throughout, solving puzzles and defeating grotesque monsters.

The trailer shows the potential for blood and gore at the very beginning, with blood filling the streets strewn with a variety of body parts and the yellow markings of an ongoing police investigation. Ominously, the radio turns on and off, allowing only snippets of the conversation to be heard. Suddenly, you learn that your soul needs to be saved by someone whom’s life you saved, as you wander through an old Japanese temple with a mere lantern. In the hand, you wield weapons, fighting off zombie-like creatures before mysteriously collapsing. When you awake, your home is changed, you’re bloody, terrified, and see a spitting image of yourself in front of a ringing phone. In the end, you are forced to bid farewell to a childhood friend, ominously ending on the note that it “had to be done”.

The horror is aided by the game’s new and improved graphics that stay true to the original style as well as Japanese aesthetic, though crafted with the newest Unreal Engine. The art in the game is stunning, with audio being done by the renowned Akira Yamaoka; the world is steeped in doubt and mystery. Simultaneously, the story is written by Ryukishi07, known for writing a variety of Japanese media, all with a sad, dark, and horror atmosphere.

Silent Hill f is set to launch on September 25th, 2025, with pre-orders available now for the game. It’s currently planned to be available across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, Windows, and the Epic Game Store, with more information expected in the future.
