At Gamescom 2025’s Opening Night Live, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 received an awaited gameplay reveal. The game is set in 2035 and continues the series’ focus on psychological conflict and shifting allegiances. The campaign reconnects players with David “Section” Mason while reintroducing Raul Menendez, now involved in a destabilizing global crisis fueled by technology. Treyarch and Raven Software emphasized that the story will explore paranoia and blurred realities, a hallmark of the Black Ops series. A major highlight of the presentation was the confirmation of a fully cooperative campaign. Up to four players can experience the story together, though solo play is also supported. This mode introduces a new global progression system, where all player actions contribute to a shared XP that carries across the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies. Settings range from neon-lit Japanese cityscapes to the Mediterranean hub of Avalon, with sequences that dive into unsettling psychological spaces.
Multiplayer was shown with a large offering at launch. Sixteen core maps designed for six-on-six matches and two large-scale maps for 20-on-20 battles will be available from day one. Movement has been updated through the Omnimovement system, which adds abilities such as wall jumps and combat rolls in select modes while removing the familiar tactical sprint. Classic Black Ops gameplay remains at the center, but Treyarch promises a faster, more fluid style that rewards aggressive play and adaptability.
The popular Zombies mode also returns with its largest round-based map to date, alongside additional survival maps and the new Dead Ops Arcade 4. Black Ops 7 is scheduled to launch on November 14, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at release. With its mix of campaign innovation, expanded multiplayer, and robust zombie content, the game is positioned to be one of the most ambitious entries in the franchise.

Beyond its core features, Treyarch also teased some of the most ambitious campaign content yet. In addition to David Mason and Raul Menendez, players will encounter new characters, including Emma Kagan. Missions will take them from neon rooftops in Japan to the coastal sprawl of Avalon, a city central to the narrative. The story builds toward Endgame, a finale that opens Avalon to player choice while unleashing new abilities and challenges, ensuring the campaign’s climax pushes both narrative tension and gameplay mastery to new heights. Multiplayer is also being expanded with near-future weaponry and the Overclock system, which allows gear and scorestreaks to evolve the more they are used.
Players can customize loadouts with hybrid perks, experiment with wingsuits and grappling hooks, and dive into Skirmish, a 20v20 mode blending vehicles, vertical movement, and objective play. Zombies adds a crossover twist to the Dark Aether storyline, bringing back alternate versions of Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey alongside new survival maps and chaotic Dead Ops Arcade 4. Preorder incentives include beta early access, the Reznov Challenge Pack, and the Vault Edition with operators, weapon blueprints, and additional content that extends across Black Ops 7 and Warzone.
