In the span of time between the publication of George RR Martin’s A Dance with Dragons novel and today several several things have happened to the A Song of Ice and Fire franchise: The Game of Thrones HBO show had come out and then subsequently crashed and burned, Telltale released a Game of Thrones decisions matter video game, a new show based on the Dance with Dragons in-universe event House of the Dragons came out to critical acclaim and then critical scrutiny, and now it seems like we’re going back to the world of video games with Game of Thrones: Kingsroad.

Here you take the role of a large, axe wielding Night’s Watch brother, interacting with the world and characters of the Game of Thrones HBO show like Jamie and Cersei Lannister, Jon Snow, and more but likely heavily watched over by GRRM himself. Maybe this game will even fix the last few seasons of the television show because gods know it’s a hard sell if it actually takes place in the HBO show’s continuity. Regardless, it’s nice that we’re getting another A Song of Ice and Fire game, Warner Brothers even said they were focusing more on the franchise.
