NetEase’s superhero project, Marvel Rivals, is still going strong. After a resurgence of popularity after their Marvel Zombies PvE event we’re heading straight into the Love is a Battlefield Season 5, with a bombshell of an opening cinematic confirming Gambit, Rogue, and teasing Cyclops.

Though while Rogue is being held off for a future release and Cyclops was merely a (very obvious) tease, Gambit himself will usher in Season 5 by himself as the newest member of the Marvel Rivals roster, with his character reveal also dropping today.

Gambit is, perhaps to the surprise of many, a support class. Meaning he’s a healer. It makes sense considering his fellow reveals, Rogue works as a tank and Cyclops as a DPS. Gambit will be using his kinetic charges to heal his allies as well as supercharge his cards for his auto attacks. If you want a more detailed breakdown of his abilities you can see them on Rivals’ official website.

Gambit’s abilities change depending on which suit of cards he’s currently representing, turning him into a modal character with one deck of cards giving him healing abilities and the other crowd control. This type of kit is pretty in depth, and engaging which more supports need to be in Marvel Rivals, so it’s good designs are heading in this direction. Gambit’s ultimate lets him throw Aces, which essentially grants a buff to anyone he places his circle of cards around.

Overall, it’s looking to be an exciting season. Gambit and Rogue are always popular, and Cyclops has been a high demand character since the game launched without him. With the character mechanic design getting stronger with every release and a lot of life injected into the game (ironically) by the Marvel Zombie mode expect to see some big things coming for Marvel Rivals… such as the New York City player hub that’s coming to let players mess around in the middle of the street for fun.

If any of this looks interesting to you be sure the check out Marvel Rivals, and look out for the beginning of Season 5 come November 14th, 2025!
