It has been 12 years since Skate 3 was released and many fans have been waiting for news about Skate 4 ever since. Full Circle provided a lot of news Full Circle’s The Board Room update that they posted to Youtube. The video gave fans information about how the game will be set up, more news about content, and even detailed a name change.
One of the biggest announcements to the game is that the game will now officially be called “skate.” instead of Skate 4. Full circle wanted to clarify that the title is fully lowercase and is “skate, period.”. The developers want fans to know that the game will not be a sequel to any of the previous Skate games, but will instead be its own game that will continue to grow for a long time. The game is going to continue evolving with new content that fans could enjoy in the future.
Full Circle also confirmed that the game will be free-to-play but will have some microtransactions throughout. Although the game has limited microtransactions, Full Circle had some rules they followed when deciding where to put them. The rules are that there will be no pay-to-win, no map areas locked behind a paywall, no paid loot boxes, and no paid gameplay advantages. These rules allow everyone who plays the game to advance while also providing a revenue stream for the game once it is officially released.
Full Circle also announced that the game will have cross-play and cross-progression available to players. Each of these features will bring in a larger community since more players will be able to play and interact with each other. Finally, the city that skate. will take place in is called San Vansterdam, which is essentially a sister city to San Vanelona from previous Skate games.
While skate. does not currently have a release date, Full Circle has said that they are working to provide more spots for their playtests and get even more fans of the franchise testing the game as soon as possible.
