On Monday, British indie developer Frontier Developments announced their newest management game called F1 Manager 2022, a new addition to the F1 Manager franchise. F1 Manager 2022 will be Frontier’s first sports license, following a licensing agreement with Formula 1 made in early 2020, and their first racing game.
F1 Manager 2022 will be the most recent installment in the F1 Manager franchise since F1 Manager, the first officially licensed F1 management game, was released exclusively for Windows in 2000. The game will also be the first installment within the F1 Manager franchise to be released for both PC and console platforms. Frontier’s Game Director Andy Fletcher shared the company’s excitement for developing the game, “There’s never been a better time to be a Formula 1 fan, and we’re excited to deliver a new way for F1 fans to immerse themselves in the biggest racing spectacle in the world. F1 Manager 2022 will deliver an experience for both new and long-term fans that is as authentic as it is exciting. Our commitment to the ever-changing world of Formula 1 will build a strong foundation for a long and special series that will evolve over time.”

According to the game’s official website, the F1 Manager 2022 will emphasize the player’s choices and replicate a simulation of an official F1 race. As a Formula 1 manager, players will be able to choose their own team and help them win through official 2022 races, where they’ll be able to pick how they start their journey using the grid route or taking their place in pole position. Players will be able to build and control their racing team from HQ, where they’ll be able to monitor their drivers and staff, check on their finances, and scout the best staff from rival teams. Additionally, players will be able to design their own cars using new designs and parts to prepare for races, such as choosing their engineering approach to improve their car’s performance.
Given Frontier’s reputation for developing well-known management simulation games like Planet Coaster and Zoo Tycoon, F1 fans can rest assured that F1 Manager 2022 will be in good hands. F1 Manager 2022 will release this summer for PC (Steam, Epic Games), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. You can wishlist the game on Steam here.
