Yesterday, Frogwares released an announcement trailer for their upcoming new game Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. According to the Frogwares Game page, the game will allow you to play as a 21-years old Sherlock Holmes in this Detective Thriller. Sherlock Holmes Chapter One’s story will take place on an “exotic, dangerous island in the Mediterranean” as Sherlock seeks to find answers to the death of his mother, Violet Holmes. The trailer doesn’t reveal much of the story, however, it does show some rather interesting scenes including shots of what could be the island that players will be able to explore, a Manor house, as well as some potential items of interest.
The trailer begins with a scene of Sherlock Holmes standing at the foot of his mother’s grave, he drops a single tear and then his companion, the mysterious Jon comes in. After a few more brief moments at the graveyard, Sherlock and his new companion walk away from the graveyard and walk towards a Manor house. On the way, players are given a brief view of a sprawling city with large amounts of red tiling as well as a few domed buildings in the back. It is unclear whether this is meant to be London or another location within the game, though more information will likely be revealed at a later date. Once Sherlock and Jon walk through the gates and into the house, where Sherlock caresses a staircase with the initials S+J carved into it, implying that they are old friends, they hear a loud noise and rush upstairs. They open a door and Sherlock finds a locket belonging to his. Sherlock picks up his mother’s locket and opens it to find a red liquid, presumably blood, leaking from the inside. He turns his head as the door opens up, the shades immediately become drawn, the doors to the outside slam shut, and the Manor is drowned in darkness. The trailer ends with the Manor aging rapidly as it becomes smothered in Ivy.
Not much more information is known about Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, however, the game will be releasing in 2021 for PC, PlayStation 4, as well as next-generation consoles.
