One of the new games teased at Gamescom Opening Night was said to have “a very catchy tune in the trailer.” This trailer started off with anthropomorphic animals investing “all they had on a shady site that looked like a scam.” As the animals play a card game, the trailer suddenly goes from chipper to mildly violent. The card game is taken outdoors as the furry friends attack each other with bizarre weapons. The trailer comes to end, presenting the title of the game: Friends Vs Friends. What has the audience just witnessed?
Friends Vs Friends is an upcoming first-person shooter developed by Brainwash Gang and published by Raw Fury. Raw Fury is known to have an excellent track record with indie games such as Sable and The Longest Road on Earth. Friends Vs Friends takes a colorful leap from their usual style of faded noir games.
What does this wacky deckbuilding game have in store? From what has been presented so far, friends will compete against each other in one-on-one battles. Players can choose from over ten characters, each with their own unique abilities. Characters will level up, new cards will be earned, and old cards will be upgraded. As for the cards themselves, the power-ups listed below have already been teased in the trailer.
- Big Head- opponent’s head grows bigger
- Mind Blowing- expose your rival’s brain for a bit
- Ninja Log- avoids your enemy’s next attack
- Nuke- ends the world as we know it
- Poison Bullets- bullets will poison your rival
- Tin Man- become invincible and slower for a bit
- Titan- turn yourself into a giant
- Vampire Bullets- each impact heals you
With games such as Sonic Frontiers taking the spotlight at Gamescom, an obscure title like Friends Vs Friends may not be remembered as much. It was the flashy visuals of cartoon animals and the upbeat song that has left viewers eagerly waiting for more.
Friends Vs Friends will be available to play on PC and gaming consoles. Specific consoles and a release date have yet to be announced.
