Developer IllFonic has released an update for Friday the 13th today which includes new playable Jason, a new map, and bug fixes. The multiplayer survival horror game is now equipped with additions inspired by the film franchise it is based on. The Pinehurst map is an ode to the Pinehurst Youth Development Center featured in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, and the new Jason, called “Jason Part 5”, is based off of Jason V from the same film.
Jason Part 5 is able to use three grab kills, including: Last Breath, Hedge Trimmer, and You’re So Vein. The maps have been adjusted to remove several exploit locations, fix locations that were causing the repair part spawns to be inaccessible, and disallowed fuses from spawning in the same building as phone boxes. The usual “Free Kick” and “disarm” grab kills will now properly grant Versatile experience. The developers have also implemented a new grab kill called Rugby Player that will be unlocked at level 108 for 2500 CP. Players can still access the bloody skin for Savini Jason, and a bug fix has been implemented that will allow Jason’s character model to rotate while knocked down.
Friday the 13th has also undergone various big fixes that include a reduced number of pocket knives and medical sprays spawned during each match. Players controlling Jason now begin each match with two more throwing knives to even the playing field. Jason’s grab range and speed have also been slightly increased to mitigate the previous power imbalances. Further bug fixes include adjusting the amount of available spawns per match for each weapon, fixing the bug that caused bear traps to disappear when being disarmed by a counselor, and removing the bug related to the “Final Chapter” achievement that caused players to crash entirely. The bug attributed to counselors receiving incorrectly caused damage by interacting with a window in a certain way has also been patched. Lastly, the exploits found in the boat flipping mechanic have been removed.
These Friday the 13th updates are now live, and available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
