Destiny 2 was brought offline Tuesday afternoon for emergency maintenance following another round of server issues plaguing the game, and fans are livid. This is the latest of multiple server shutdowns in the past few months, following an uptake in players reporting various instances of API/server downtimes, error codes, and other gameplay issues.
Destiny 2 is being brought offline for emergency maintenance. Destiny 2 features will be disabled on web, mobile, and 3rd-party apps.
Another update on this issue will be provided within 1 hour.

Destiny 2 was quickly brought back online shortly after the announcement with a short list of bug fixes, but it was far from perfect. Currently, its integration features on its official website, including the API, are still offline and no other news has emerged since. Many fans have taken to Twitter to voice their frustrations about the way Bungie developers have handled the game, calling for more transparency from the studio.
I don’t want to be that guy. I really don’t.
I so badly want this game to succeed.
But at a certain point, it only feels fair that as paying customers of this game, we are owed some sort of update on the weekly server issues, emergency maintenance, and frequent downtime. https://t.co/DV61OGxUct

Following the angry calls for more transparency from the studio, speculation on what might have caused these problems behind the scenes have increased. Tom Warren, Senior Editor at The Verge, speculated that a “build-up of tech debt” could be a reason for the recent issues plaguing Destiny 2. When some fans pointed out Sony could have had a hand in Destiny 2’s poor quality, Warren was uncertain that that could be the case considering Bungie acts largely independent from Sony despite being acquired by them, clarifying in a later tweet that Bungie’s issues could be the result of poor “tooling and testing.”
Bungie is having serious issues patching Destiny 2 lately. The game has had to be pulled offline multiple times in recent months. It looks like a build up of tech debt is hitting Destiny 2 in multiple ways. Hopefully they can get this under control soon https://t.co/SpJrb68H3O

Regardless of who is at fault for Destiny 2’s technical problems, it’s clear to everyone that something needs to change. And what players seem to want the most from PlayStation and Bungie is better communication.
I think the biggest frustration is the lack of comms from Bungie.
If D2 was doing well, no problem.
But the game having so many issues, the lack of information/conversation is glaring.
Went from a lot of comm to next to nothing.
I understand why, but it’s still frustrating.😔
