Freebird Games Announces Next Project Impostor Factory

To The Moon was a small RPG-maker pixel game that had won the hearts of many through its slightly complex, but wonderful storytelling. It moved players to tears and brought a whole new meaning to “Love you to the moon and back”. It garnered a sequel, Finding Paradise,  that was just as easily as tear-jerking and heart-warming as its predecessor. It was clear that small indie developers Freebird Games knew how to make a captivating story that comes with a lot of emotion behind it. But it’s been nearly a year and a half since the last game that Freebird Games released. Though, it was clear the next title they decided to announce doesn’t sound as heart-string pulling. But still, Impostor Factory, is coming:

The trailer, for the time being, is just a title preview, and the main theme. It shows the silhouette of a woman in some kind of evening gown and two umbrellas inside of a holster nearby. The main plot of this new title? Murder. Really bloody murders. Which is the complete opposite of what Freebird Games would normally gravitate towards given the previous titles and some of creator Ken Gao’s work.

The closest title that he has, before he became Freebird Games, would be The Mirror Lied. Though that game is not titled as a horror, or thriller, it is the most abstract and bizarre game to come from Ken Gao. Players take on the role of a faceless girl and water a plant. Bizarre, but not scary, and far from murders. But given this tiny hint from the trailer description on Gao’s Youtube channel, it’s safe to say there might be more linked to his earlier games in Impostor Factory:

There still isn’t much about Impostor Factory aside from the single page on the Freebird Games’ website. Where it’s just a title, and an image, and it feels more like a placeholder than revealing any information. So given the hint that there might be some connection to The Mirror Lied, that it’s about bloody murders, and that it’s some type of thriller, there’s really nothing else to it. It is, however, due ‘one day’, or maybe at some point in 2020.
