Sometime last week, I wrote about free games that players with the Playstation Plus subscription can download during the month of August. Now, players who have a Gold subcription for Xbox 360 or Xbox One has their own games that they can download for free for the rest of the month. As of August 1, Xbox One users can download Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate and Xbox 360 users can download Spelunky. Starting on August 16, Xbox One users can download WWE 2k16 and players can download Beyond Good & Evil HD on both Xbox One and Xbox 360, according to Gamespot. Tumblestone which was released in July will remain free until August 15.
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is a tactical action game that combines the heroes of Destiny Warriors and Dynasty Warriors in order to take down Orochi, the Serpent King. There are 120 playable characters, all of whom can be used in three-player teams. Themes including loyalty, betrayal, friendship and love are created as the heroes clash through the act of battle.
Spelunky is a platforming game with a whole mess of monsters, traps, items and secrets. Dying in Spelunky is common, and when you respawn, you play on a whole new level, similar to Pokémon Red Rescue Team and all of its future titles. Players are free to explore the levels in their own way using all items they come across thanks to the levels being destructible.
Finally, Beyond Good & Evil HD is an award winning action/adventure game from Ubisoft. You play as Jade, a young investigative reporter in order to uncover a government conspiracy to save not only your planet, but its inhabitants as well. The game won and was nominated for several awards including:
IGN’s best adventure game and best story in 2003- and was nominated for three IGDA best of year awards 2004 -GotY, Original Game Character and Excellence in Game design.
You can live or re-live the story of Jade and her pig during a 12-hour game full of epic boss fights, puzzles, stealth, hovercraft piloting. shooting sequences, classic platforming and photography, according to the Ubisoft website.
There aren’t as many games released as there were for PS Plus users, but the combination of action/adventure and puzzles will keep Gold Subscribers busy for the entirety of August.
