Fortnite Season 3 Being Delayed Due to the Current Events Going on Worldwide

If you been paying attention to what’s going on in the news and what is all over social media, you are aware of the continuous demonstrations and brave protest going on around the world because of the tragic death of George Floyd due to police brutality. Many video game companies took a stand against racism and the injustice that is happening within the Black community by making a stance with the Black Lives Matter Movement.

In the wake of these events, Epic Games has made an announcement that they will be delaying Fortnite Season 3 as they stand in solidarity with the world protest and continuous demonstrations many people are fighting for equality and justice for the Black community.

Epic Games made statement on their website yesterday acknowledging the current events going on in the world. “Recent events are a heavy reminder of going injustice in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism both overt and subtle against people of color. We’re acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing. We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics.”

They continue on stating that their team was very eager for their fans to get the new season of Fortnite to come out. When the new season comes out, they wanted to release it in a better time. They will release Season 3 once the timing is right and when their Fortnite team has taken the time to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.

The live event, The Device is going to be delayed to June 15th which falls on a Monday, and the Fortnite Season 3 launch will be pushed back to June 17th which is on a Wednesday. They want to remind their fans that even though this delay comes on the heels of another one and that their fans have been patiently waiting. They want to acknowledge that these are difficult times and if their fans or even their team need some time to take care of themselves, it is well understood.
