Epic games has been on a tremendous run with Fortnite being a global success since 2017. The game has only reached higher and crazier heights since its release and could easily be said that for better or worse, they have redefined the landscape of the industry as we know it. Fortnite is currently in its fourth chapter and its fourth season in said chapter, and the game has had a staggering 22 seasons of the battle royale with no real sign of stopping anytime soon. This season, at least the latter of it has focused heavily on the Halloween season with its Fortnightmares annual event changes to the map, brand new collab cosmetics such as Alan Wake 2, Halloween, and Nightmare Before Christmas. Players are now looking to the future, specifically next season as curiosity begins to rise as to what next season’s theme might be, and today we got official confirmation regarding their plans.
According to Fortnite’s official X account, the leaks of the past couple months were true, as it was confirmed that Fortnite will be going back to the very beginning. The next season will focus on going back to Chapter 1 as players will be able to play the original map for the first time in over 6 years. As mentioned there were many rumors that there would be a sort of throwback season for months now, with only official leaks being shown in the past couple of weeks. The consensus of this news seems to be overwhelmingly positive, with Fortnite themselves banking on the nostalgia of all the people who played the game during the early days of Chapter 1.
The only worries so far from players are apparent leaks that the movement of the game, which has grown to be universally loved, will be cut down as well to emulate the feel of Chapter 1. That would allegedly mean no tactical sprinting or mantling. There have also been some concerns regarding the no-build mode being removed as well, as that has quickly become one of the game’s most played modes.
Regardless, players can look forward to much nostalgia as they prepare to drop into Fortnite’s past, on November 3rd, 2023.
