Recently, Fortnite had launched their new limited-time Close Encounters mode. This was to be the second new limited-time mode to arrive to the game this week. Unlike the last mode, Solid Gold v2, which focused on mostly Legendary weapons spawning, Enclosed Encounters focuses on close quarters combat and only features shotguns and newly added jetpacks. However, developer Epic Games has decided to temporarily disable the mode shortly after the release of the event.
Epic stated via Twitter that they had found an issue within the mode and in turn they had to disable the event from all available platforms in or to further investigate. The developer didn’t go into detail about what kind of issue that they may be dealing with, only sharing that they will be removing the mode while they handle the problem.
Due to an issue with Close Encounters, we’ve had to disable this LTM while we investigate. 🔎
In the meantime, we’ve enabled Solid Gold. 🥇

Unfortunately, Epic Games didn’t give a specific time window on if or when the mode will make a return, either.
In other news, Epic Games also announced within an official blog post that a Playground mode, which mirrors the gameplay of Minecraft, will be coming to the game for a limited time as well.
Battle and build to your heart’s content with an extended period of time to roam around the map as well as increased resource generation. All treasure chests and ammo crates will be spawned, try droppin’ in different spots and scope out the loot. Friendly fire is on so you can scrimmage with your squad (up to 4 friends per match), but fear not you’ll respawn immediately.
Many other changes are coming to the game as well. In addition to this, they are also “evaluating” on a way to bring a 50v50 mode to the game permanently. They are also tweaking the the Victory Royale screen more celebratory, and are working on ways to make traversing the map easier. The studio is also “investigating ways to display an in-world marker to allow for easier navigation around the island.”
