Forspoken Has Been Delayed To October 11, 2022

Last year at The Game Awards, a new gameplay trailer was released for Forspoken, a new game from Square Enix and developer Luminous Productions. It was also revealed that the game was set to release on May 24, 2022. However, that is no longer the case. Luminous Productions took to Twitter and announced that the game has been delayed from May and  will now launch on October 11, 2022.

“We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11, 2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us,” Luminous Productions says. “To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.”

Forspoken follows the journey of Frey, a young New Yorker transported to the beautiful and cruel land of Athia. In search of a way home, Frey must use her newfound magical abilities to traverse sprawling landscapes and battle monstrous creatures. Frey has access to numerous types of magical abilities that will cater to a variety of playstyles

Forspoken features the talents of Ella Balinska (Charlie’s Angels, Resident Evil), Janina Gavankar (The Way Back, Star Wars Battlefront II), Jonathan Cake (Stargirl), Monica Barbaro (The Good Cop, Top Gun: Maverick), Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman), and Pollyanna McIntosh (The Walking Dead).

Forspoken is set to be released for PC and PlayStation 5 on October 11, 2022. The game will be a timed exclusive for PlayStation for at least  24 months after its initial release date. Similar to Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which was a PlayStation 4 exclusive for a certain amount of time before it was released to other platforms.
