Former members of the video game development company CD Projekt Red have recently announced that they are going to be starting a new gaming company called Blank., as reported by Game Informer. Blank. CD Projekt Red is a well known game developing company who has recently been in news coverage for statistics of The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt which has officially become one of the top ten highest grossing games of all time. However it seems as though not everyone in the team wanted to continue down that path.
Mateusz Kanik, Jędrzej Mróz and Marcin Jefimow are the three co-founders of Blank.. All three of them have had a strong background with CD Projekt Red, with Kanik being the game director for Cyberpunk 2077 and co-game director for The Witcher 3, and Mróz and Jefimow being executive producers on both of those games.
Along with the announcement, Blank. released some concept art for an upcoming project of theirs that is currently under wraps. According to a press release given by the founding members of Blank., here is what is known about the team for this project so far:
Blank.’s co-founders include Mateusz Kanik (CD Projekt Red) taking on the role of Game Director, Jędrzej Mróz (CD Projekt Red) and Marcin Jefimow (CD Projekt Red, 11 Bit Studios) joining as Executive Producers, and Mikołaj Marchewka (Rookiez from Warsaw S.A) joining as Managing Director. The founders have brought together an exceptional team of developers: Michal Dobrowolski (CD Projekt Red) joins as Design Director, Artur Ganszyniec (CD Projekt Red, 11 Bit Studios) as Narrative Director, with Grzegorz Przybyś (Division 48 Studio, Artificer) as Art Director.
Kanik also stated in a press release that the games that they wish to produce will be much lower scale than the games people are used to from CD Projekt Red. However what they lack in scale they will make up for with a focus on story, emotion and craftsmanship.
This new company seems to want to focus more heavily on a team-based effort, with everyone chipping in to create the support necessary to create games off of what they hope will be realistic budgets. Currently the team is a modest 10 people large, however they hope to raise their staff to upwards of 60 people to develop their upcoming project.
