For Honor is Getting a Brand New Hero and a Free Weekend

A new trailer has just dropped for Kyoshin, the next new hero being added to For Honor. Ubisoft has done a great job supporting For Honor for nearly five years, and that support is showing no signs of stopping. The game’s second season in year 5 dropped last June, and now the years first new character is on the way. Last year For Honor players were treated to two new heroes, both based off of bosses from the single player campaign and both oozing with quality, so this years new characters are ones to look forward too.

In an official blogpost, Ubisoft shared some of Kyoshin’s backstory and how he fits into the over-arching lore of For Honor. This hero will join the ranks of the Samurai, bringing the total number of heroes in the game to a nice even thirty.

The Kyoshin are legendary warriors who have a deep connection to the spiritual realms. Their special training led them to master the art of fighting with the Shikomizue, a weapon consisting of a single-handed blade and a scabbard.

Alongside this character, Ubisoft is making For Honor free starting today! That’s right: from July 15th to the 19th, For Honor is completely free to play, so jump in and try it, because the last five years have made this game a far more complete experience practically unrecognizable from its’ rocky start upon release.

Kyoshin will release in a $7.99 package which contains the new character, an exclusive ornament, elite outfit, seven days of champion status and three scavenger crates. He will also be available for purchase off the in-game store for 15,000 steel. New seasonal armor sets are also releasing not just for Kyoshin, but for every other hero in the game as well.

This isn’t the end of For Honor’s year, though. Last year the game was updated for better performance on next-gen hardware, so Ubisoft is likely planning on continuing their support for the game throughout the PS5 and Series X|S life cycles. This will include another new hero dropping later this year during For Honor’s Year 5 Season 4. You can check out Kyoshin’s release trailer below.
