First Gameplay Trailer for Little Dragons Café Revealed

Aksys Games revealed the first official gameplay trailer for Little Dragons Cafe. Set to be released late summer for the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4, this game is the latest from the mind of Yasuhiro Wada, creator of the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons series of farming simulations.

First unveiled last February at GDC, Little Dragons Cafe tells the story of the twins Ren and Rin, who find themselves tasked with the dual responsibility of running a cafe and raising a dragon when their mother falls into an endless slumber due to a mysterious illness.

The game appears to be a life-sim much in the style of the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons games for which Yasuhiro is well-known. As the title suggests, the player runs their cafe by performing simple minigames and finding new recipes. In order to get the ingredients for these new dishes, the player will have to also engage in gardening, fishing, and exploration of the game’s world. There’s also a social aspect to the game where the player can befriend their neighbors and patrons with the help of their culinary creations.

The idea for Little Dragons Cafe is one that has been in development for some time now, according to the founder and CEO of Aksys Games:

“Wada and I have been friends for a decade, and we’ve discussed teaming up on a new IP for about half that time,” says Akibo Shieh, founder and CEO of Aksys Games, “It wasn’t until Little Dragons Café that our schedules finally lined up so we were able to work together on a project, and the game has been in development for two years now.”

Little Dragons Cafe is slated for a late August release on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. There is currently no word of a PC version so far.
