Just this morning, a new trailer was released for the soon to be released Virtual Realtiy game Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. The trailer showed off several locations that players would visit as well as a few enemies that players will have to flee while they travel through space and time. According to IGN, the game starts players off in the fictional area of Coal Hill, London where the very first episode took place. It is also where one of the Doctor’s companions, Clara Oswald, taught until her untimely demise.
In Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, players get to travel through space and time using the famous TARDIS. Players also get to use the handy sonic screw-driver that The Doctor uses in the show. The game includes numerous references and throwbacks to many famous moments in Doctor Who. One throwback involves the planet Metebelis IV, the sister planet to Metebelis III where the third incarnation of The Doctor, John Pertwee, met his end in 1974. Another blast from the past comes in the form two of the plot items in the game, Magnus Greel’s Time Cabinet, and the Time Key.
The developer behind Doctor Who: The Edge of Time Maze Theory seeks to make this game feel like an actual episode of Doctor Who. This can be seen with several of the voice actors for the game including the 13th Doctor Jodie Whitaker, who actually recorded her lines where Doctor Who‘s audio is developed. According to IGN, The man behind the voice of the Daleks, Nicholas Briggs will also return to voice the Daleks in the game while shouting the ever famous line “Exterminate!” Daleks aren’t the only enemy players will have to face, another danger will come in the form of the Weeping Angels who seek to transport you to another time and devour all the years you would have lived if you hadn’t been snatched up by them, just remember not to blink in their presence and players should be fine. The game will be coming to PSVR and PC VR devices at an unspecified date.
