Final Fantasy XIV fans, it’s time to mark your calendars—Patch 7.3, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, arrives August 5. Announced during today’s Letter from the Producer LIVE broadcast, the patch brings a wave of fresh content including a new trailer, the next chapter in the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid, and updates to nearly every major system in the game, according to a press release.
The trailer teased sweeping changes across Eorzea, continuing the post-Dawntrail storyline while layering in high-level content for veterans and returning players alike. Among the biggest additions is San d’Oria: The Second Walk, the second chapter in the Echoes of Vana’diel raid series. A clear nod to Final Fantasy XI, the raid doubles down on nostalgia while pushing the scale of alliance encounters even further. Though Square Enix kept specifics light, the setting and its callbacks speak for themselves.
There’s also a new dungeon, The Meso Terminal, along with a standard trial and an Extreme version. Players can take on The Wreath of Snakes (Unreal) as well, a remixed version of the Seiryu boss fight now tuned for level 100. Treasure hunters get a new location in Vault Oneiron, and Duty Support will be extended to Cutter’s Cry.
On the PvP front, Series 9 begins with a new Crystalline Conflict arena called Bayside Battleground. The update also includes skill reworks and new ranked tiers. Cosmic Exploration, the crafting and gathering-focused system introduced in Dawntrail, gets its first big expansion in Patch 7.31 with the addition of a new planet called Phaenna.
Square Enix confirmed that additional content will continue to roll out in Patches 7.31 and 7.35. Those include Phantom Weapon enhancement quests, a new deep dungeon called Pilgrim’s Traverse, and the next arc of the Allied Society storyline featuring the Yok Huy. Players can also expect the next round of Hildibrand Adventures in 7.35, along with smaller updates like new chat bubble functionality, Phoenix Down changes, and more photo mode tools.
More than 30 million accounts have registered for Final Fantasy XIV, and the game shows no signs of slowing down. The Free Trial now covers content through the end of Stormblood and Patch 4.58, offering hundreds of hours of main story and side content with no time limit. The trailer and full Japanese-language broadcast archive are both available online, giving players a closer look at what’s next as the Dawntrail expansion settles into its rhythm.
