Square Enix just made a lot of Xbox One and Nintendo Switch owners very happy. The company has just announced that three Final Fantasy games will be making their way onto these systems this April. Final Fantasy X and its sequel, Final Fantasy X-2, will release on April 16, while Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age will launch on April 30.

Final Fantasy X/X2 will contain the remaster editions that came out for the PlayStation 3 in 2013, before being ported to the PlayStation 4 and then PC in 2015. Final Fantasy X and X-2 were originally released for the PlayStation 2 back in 2001 and 2002 respectively. X garnered critical acclaim and is considered one of the greatest JRPG’s of all time, and while X-2 didn’t reach the same level of success as its predecessor, it’s still coveted as a decent sequel by some fans.
Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age is a remaster of the original 2006 iteration. Despite the drastic change in the combat mechanics, the game was well received by reviewers and fans alike; however, it was released near the end of the PlayStation 2’s life span, right before the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii were about to release. The Zodiac Age, which launched last year for the PlayStation 4 and later for PC in 2018, breathed new life into the game, as it was updated with newer visuals and other enhancements to the battle mechanics.
No prices were given, but they will more than likely cost around the standard MSRP price once Square Enix updates any future listings for them on the market. These are huge additions to both consoles, and if that wasn’t enough, Square Enix has already confirmed that Final Fantasy VII, IX, and Crystal Chronicles are releasing for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch this year. It’s safe to say that owners for either system are in for some outstanding RPG’s before the end of 2019.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age will launch on April 16 and April 30 for the Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch respectively.
