Final Fantasy VII Remake To Be Release By 2023

It’s been awhile since we’ve last gotten a look at the Final Fantasy VII Remake. The title was Initially revealed back at E3 2015 and developer Square Enix took everyone by surprise when they announced that they will be giving one of their most notable RPG’s a total remake. Since then, we’ve learned that this time around the game is being made to be episodic and each episode to be released will have a full game’s worth of content.

Since the initial reveal a few years ago, we haven’t gotten any new looks at the project, and the studio seems to be at a very delicate time in the development process. Square Enix recently moved all of development efforts for the game in house, abandoning all of third party studio CyberConnect2’s work until now in the process. Now, the development team is handling the task of reimagining the whole environment and figuring out how to make it fit within the modern world.

But recently, it seems we have gotten some insight on just when Square Enix plans on releasing the title (Or at least the first episode). According to a behind closed doors conversation between producer Yoshinori Kitase and development lead Naoki Hamaguchi, that took place during the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary celebration event, the estimated time of release for Final Fantasy VII Remake is by the 35th anniversary of Final Fantasy, which will be in 2023.

However, no details were given on if this was the date that all of the episodes were to be released by or if this was the date of the first episode’s release. Either way, it is reported that Hamaguchi finds this window to be unacceptable and the team and him are working to have the game out earlier. Hopefully with Square Enix returning to E3 this year, we may finally get a fresh look at how the title is shaping up.
