Final Fantasy VII Remake Producers Talk Voice Acting And Open World

As we’ve already seen in the Playstation Experience trailer, we can expect Final Fantasy VII Remake to be fully voice acted.

In the newest edition of Japanese magazine Dengeki Playstation, Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura and producer Yoshinori Kitase sit down to speak more on questions regarding the voice acting  and other parts of the original that will be incorporated into the remake.

As translated by Gematsu, Nomura and Kitase reveal that the game will be fully voiced, even the infamous Don Corneo cross-dressing dating section.

Basically, it will be fully voiced. We still haven’t decided the voices of the characters that weren’t in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

On voicing the dating scenes, Kitase says “It would be impossible not to. (Laughs.) However, since it’s different from that time and social situation, we need implement the reproduction of original events carefully.”

Regarding the possibility of the game being open-world Kitase wasn’t keen on shoehorning it strictly into that category. “We can’t say anything yet, but we don’t plan on fussing about whether it’s a so-called open-world or sandbox,” he said. Despite those comments he did mention that Nomura’s focus on the environment is leading them to create an world where “character actions affect the scenery.”

The question of mini games was brought up and the two expressed their desire to bring those back. Whether or not they will be bringing all of them back is still a question on it’s necessity especially with the new standards of today’s technology. Gold Saucer minigames were essential to winning certain prizes in the original game so how they will deal with it is still a big question mark.

When asked about if they plan on doing anything for Final Fantasy VII‘s 20th anniversary in January 2017 the two remained hush. Kitase gave no comment while Nomura said “I’m waiting for Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 and World of Final Fantasy in 2016. I think when they’re completed, I’ll be able to release new information.” Although the latest trailer revealed actual gameplay the game is likely far away in terms of a release.
