Final Fantasy 15 Coming 2016

Yesterday at PAX Prime in Seattle game director Hajime Tabata confirmed the release of Final Fantasy 15 for 2016. Tabata did not have a specific release date for fans of the next entry in the popular Final Fantasy franchise, but did announce that an event is being planned by Square Enix. The event will be held in March 2016 and the official release date will be announced at the event.

The director went on to give a progress report on the various features that will be included in Final Fantasy 15. Polygon reports that the current progress of the game is at about 80 percent complete. Some of these features were put on display in a video message from the Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder of Avalanche studios Christofer Sundberg. Sundberg went on to speak of the franchise saying, “we hold FINAL FANTASY franchise, and the team working on it, in such a high regard and are excited to be a part of the next chapter.”

Tabata was not empty handed as there were new videos, concept art, and screenshots that were unveiled at PAX Prime. This gave gamers a glimpse at a secret outpost that will act as a port that will aid in transferring players between continents called Caem. Gamers were also given a closer look at the game’s driving feature. These features can be seen in the video above as well as the Square Enix NA Youtube channel.

In an interview with IGN, Tabata confirmed that an Active Time Report will be taking place at the Tokyo Game Show this coming September. According to Tabata, the report will contain more information on Luna and Regis, two new characters coming to the world of Final Fantasy as well as information about the fishing (mini-game) and chocobo-related features.

Final Fantasy 15 will be making its way to next gen systems with Square Enix working for a worldwide simultaneous release.
