Last week, Infinity Ward and Activision announced a final DLC for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Retribution, which will bring players a conclusion to the game’s zombie storyline. A trailer was released alongside the announcement featuring pieces of gameplay from the four new multiplayer maps that will also be included in Retribution.
The incoming maps will include Carnage, a “post-apocalyptic race track along the California coast” with environmental hazards and fire traps; Depot 22, “a watering hole at the end of civilization that focuses on mid-ranged encounters” which allows players to engage in close combat on a three-land map; Altitude, a “high-end, sky high shopping mall located on the edges of the universe,” and a chaotic environment; and Heartland, a simulated town and a “re-imagining of the classic Call of Duty: Ghosts map, Warhawk.”
The game’s zombie arc will close out with a final chapter called The Beast from Beyond, which will take place in an isolated military station on a “distant ice planet.” The new content brings back Willard Wyler as the villain, and “as players begin to discover more and more infected crew members, they’ll need to battle hordes of the undead to uncover the truth and escape Wyler’s films once and for all.”
Retribution will launch on September 12th, 2017 for PlayStation 4. Versions of the DLC for Xbox One and PC will come at a later date; the game’s other DLC releases have generally followed about a month later. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was released on November 4th, 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
