FIFA 22’s Career Mode Gets An Overhaul

The fans have spoken! Earlier this week, game developers at EA broke down the many new features and improvements coming to FIFA 22’s Career mode. And when I say many, I mean many. So let’s break down everything that was revealed in the announcement about new customization and story options coming to FIFA 22.

“We’ve made significant improvements to both Manager Career and Player Career this year that bring you more ways than ever to customize your Manager Career experience and a long-overdue revamp to the Player Career experience, with complete control over your Pro’s development and career progression.”

The first, and perhaps most exciting, of the coming changes, is the fact that players can now create and customize their own clubs in FIFA 22’s Manager Career mode. Upon creating their club, players will be able to choose their club’s name and the nickname the commentators will use. Alongside this, players will get to choose what league they compete in and the rank of that league. And a final cherry on top for cinematic flair, players will also choose a rival team within their league, which will increase tensions between them and increase news coverage of matches between the two star-crossed foes.

And that’s just part of the enhancements! FIFA 22 will also bring plenty of new customization options to their Career mode, from the color of player’s uniforms to the lawn pattern on the fields. Players will now have a host of options to choose from when it comes to perfecting every last detail of their dream team. Players, at the start of every season, can choose their team crest, their uniform colors, and even their home and away uniforms. Stadiums also get plenty of customizations, with players able to choose the lawn style, the color of seats, and even the atmosphere with audience chants and anthems.

But then, of course, comes the task of actually building your squad. The new FIFA 22 Career mode will randomly generate a squad for players based on the players’ chosen league, star rating, and squad age range. After a squad is generated, players will be able to tinker around with their squad to perfect it even further. The nationality of squad members will even be determined based on player nationality percentages, just to go the extra mile in creating an authentic game experience. After receiving their squad, players will set their board priorities and transfer budget, then dive into the soccer league simulation experience!

Oh, and did I mention that those are only the customization updates? There’s a whole other equally long list of story-based enhancements to Career mode in FIFA 22. Alongside the new customization updates coming to Career mode, several new additions will be made to make your team’s journey to stardom feel more legitimate. From the ability to have new, upcoming players come on as subs to manager ratings and even dressing room cinematics, developers at EA are working hard to create a more life-like team experience.

Several new mechanics are coming to Career mode that will create a more thorough game experience as your team rises to the top. Players will now be assigned match objectives to complete throughout games in Career mode and experience points to earn that help enhance the players on their teams. Skill trees and perks are more ways for players to give their team a leg up on their opponents. For more details about how all of these new mechanics work, check out the full announcement and breakdown here.

So, in summary, there are dozens upon dozens of new changes coming to the Career mode in FIFA 22. And, if you’re excited to hop on and get ready for the soccer experience of a lifetime, FIFA 22 is available for pre-order now.
