For the past major announcements for the Final Fantasy XIV Online DLC “Shadowbringers”, they’ve come from the FFXIV Online Fan Fests. From Tokyo, to Las Vegas, to Paris, a lot has been announced for the next installment. New races, including the highly fan-requested Viera, and the Hrothgar. New job titles, the Gunblade and the Dancer. And new locations like the Chrystarium and Eulmore. And it was set to come out on June 28 for those who pre-ordered, and July 2 for everyone else.
But with the Square Enix Conference at E3 last night, producer Noaki Yoshida came forward with some news about the upcoming expansion DLC. And with him coming in and talking about “Shadowbringers”, he revealed a launch trailer that goes more into the lore and story of what the DLC will bring:
The trailer itself has shifted from the super high quality movie-like trailers that have been revealing things bit by bit from the previous Fan Fests, and focuses more on the story. Voice-overs during the trailer reveal some prominent struggles that players will have to face in the main campaign story. And, at the end of the trailer, it does reveal that Primal’s will be a major plot point in the story. As well as the possibility of becoming a Warrior of Darkness, which is a hefty premise.
Final Fantasy XIV Online “Shadowbringers” will be available to play on June 28, if player pre-ordered, and July 2, for everyone else. It will be available to play on PC and PS4.
