Christmas Horror is an indie holiday horror game where Santa Claus makes a trip to your house, not to deliver gifts to you but to take your soul instead. The game was released today, Dec. 3, 2021, on Steam for the PC and just in time to be played for the holidays. Christmas Horror was developed and published by Purple Thunder Games, an indie horror game developer based in Brazil.
You play as a child who has been a bit naughty this year. As a result of your misbehavior, Santa Claus has chosen you to be the next sacrifice for his yearly Christmas ritual. In these rituals, one child from the naughty list gets sacrificed so Santa can increase his life span to continue spreading holiday joy around the world and delivering gifts to all the good children. Luckily, Santa still needs to get some resources for the ritual, so you will have two days to make your escape. To survive the night, you will have to hide from Santa and either choose to defeat him once and for all or escape from his grasp. It is up to you to decide how to survive.
To make Christmas Horror‘s gameplay more interesting, the developer has added a few limitations to your character, as noted in the game’s Steam page. Since you play as a child, you can only carry one item on your person. Your movement is also slower than Santa Claus, so he has more of an advantage at capturing you as you try to escape from him. There are also no save points within the game, so you will need to beat the game in one shot or start all over again. Overall, you will have a jolly and fun time playing this game.
You can purchase Christmas Horror on Steam for the original price of $2.99. Currently, the game is on sale for $1.94 until Dec. 10, 2021.
