Wired Productions, the studio behind the upcoming open-world air combat game The Falconeer, have announced a closed beta for PC players coming soon. The announcement was made via the developer’s website and Steam page and included a new gameplay trailer full of information about the beta. The trailer also gave more of a glimpse into the aerial combat in The Falconeer, as players control a “Falconeer” warrior in the third person perspective.
The official synopsis describes some of the basic fighting mechanics, “using ranged weapons the game still holds true to classic dogfighting mechanics but adds twists such as acrobatics and crazy line up of enemies to take on. You’ll fight other Falconeers, but also large lumbering airships, flying beetles, manta rays and of course the dragon-like weavers.” Players will be able to control their falcon as they explore the Ursee and find new settlements, factions, and pieces of lore about the game. Players can earn SoulShards throughout the game which will allow them to upgrade (and customize) their bird mounts and arsenal.
Along with the classic dogfighting mechanics seen in a multitude air-combat games, The Falconeer also brings sharp and stunning graphics along with an intractable world full of lore. Players will be able to choose a faction to join and play with friends as they explore more of the Ursee world. The official website includes screenshots, videos, pre-order information and further details about the game and the Ursee. Any interested in the joining the October closed beta for PC can join the community Discord server for sign-up information. The Falconeer will be releasing on the Xbox One X and Steam in early 2021. The official console release will include the special Day One edition that can be pre-ordered now and includes a digital game guide, soundtrack, sticker sheet, and reversible inlay.
