Marvel Rivals closed out 2024 with a bang. Despite releasing too late to be on many peoples’ Game of the Year lists it quickly supplanted its contemporaries and became one of, if not the, most popular hero shooter on the market today thanks in large part to its pretty lax approach to balance, fresh artstyle and fantastic character designs, and just being fun. Of course, the Marvel IP also helps things along, and being able to play your favorite comic book hero is just icing on the cake (cue Iron Man Jarvis montages). Marvel Rivals looks to open 2025 even stronger by releasing FOUR characters in the inaugural season, and what other four characters could it be other than Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four.

It’s been allegedly leaked for a while (alongside many many other characters presumably on the assembly line for future releases) but Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing are all officially going to be coming to be coming to Marvel Rivals alongside their little robot helper HERBIE.
From what we know about the Fantastic Four so far, Mr. Fantastic is a Duelist with an emphasis on expanding his body to tank hits (which gave the internet hilarious meme images of Reed bulked up).
Human Torch is almost definitely going to be joining his brother-in-law as a DPS, and obviously The Thing will be a Vanguard tank. That leaves the question of the Invisible Woman, who is the member we know the least about. In fact, the above images are the first we’re seeing of her. With two damage dealers and a tank, she would fit as a Strategist/support character, however with her powers and typical role in the comics she would actually make a decent choice for another Vanguard tank, and would give the Four an even 2/2 split. We’ll see for sure this coming Monday, now all we need is for the Fantastic Four‘s archnemesis, Dr. Doom, to be playable.
