Fans of the Crackdown series received disappointing news today in the form of a tweet, and interview with Polygon from Microsoft Studios GM Shannon Loftis;
Coming on the heels of a great showing at E3 featuring comedian Terry Crews excitement-yelling about the game, this announcement comes as something of a shock for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the third entry in the series.
Crackdown made it’s debut on the Xbox 360, featuring super powered agents that grew in skill, and power as they hunted down various gang leaders throughout three districts, going from tossing grenades to launching cars across the city. Fans of the series have been excited to step back into the shoes of these super humans again, but it looks like they’ll need to wait until Spring 2018.
According to Loftis, this push back is solely so that the team can make sure they are delivering on all of their promises,
“…we want to make sure to deliver the right game, with the right quality, and at the right time. Crackdown 3 is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game…” – Shannon Loftis
It makes sense, we’ve seen what happens when a game fails to live up to expectation, and Microsoft Studios has promised a lot. Crackdown 3 has promised full campaign multiplayer support, 4k graphics, and a fully destructible environment that you’ll be able to Rube-Goldberg with your online buddies to maximize the mayhem and take down your targets. If Microsoft makes good on it’s promise, Crackdown 3 should be well worth the wait.
