The amount of new fan-made Fallout games is rapidly growing. With the release of Fallout: London, a fan-made Fallout game set in London, England running on Fallout 4‘s engine set to release later in Q4 2023 to avoid a clash with Bethesda’s Starfield, another fan-made Fallout project revealed what they have been working on in the form of an 18-minute gameplay trailer.
The team behind Fallout: Nuevo México released Monday an impressive gameplay trailer of their fan-made game that’s set in ‘The Land of Enchantment’ of New Mexico in 2166, 5 years after the original Fallout and 89 years after ‘The Great War’ that caused nuclear devastation to the world. The mod is currently running on the Fallout: New Vegas engine which focuses on the series’ traditional choice system. The mod has its own original soundtrack and is fully voiced with Spanish and English voice acting, making sure that the area of New Mexico isn’t just an area of Mexico. The developers of the mod explain that “we’ll have more Chicano speaking characters in New Mexico, while we have authentic Mexican accents in México, this is to separate each one as their own as opposed to having New Mexico feel just like México.”
In the video presentation of the gameplay, the presenter explains that the player can choose the origins of the protagonist, choosing between “The Convict” or “The Dreamer.” “The Convict” starts out in a Tibets Penitentiary Prison with no idea who you are and why or how you got there in the first place. In “The Dreamer” you play as a Ghoul who is taking residence in a pre-war military base. You can choose to pursue the main quest or leave the base at any time. Both styles play differently, but what stands out the most is the “The Dreamer’s” Ghoul’s ability to go near radiation barrels and interact with them if you have an empty syringe to get a ‘Radiation Booster’ which can give you feral-like abilities. There’s a catch though, use too much and you run the risk of going feral yourself. Another interesting gameplay mechanic is the ability to dual-wield pistols. Yes. DUAL wielding pistols! Who doesn’t want that!
So far, there is no release date but the team behind the mod says in the description of the Youtube video that two more gameplay videos will arrive by the end of the year. Part 2 at the end of Summer 2023, and part 3 in the Winter 2023, but so far, the mod is looking very polished from when it was revealed two years ago.
