Fallout Content Teased by Bethesda Collaborators Iron Galaxy Studio… Until it Wasn’t

The second season of the Fallout TV show not only garnered praise from the community for its remarkable feat of continuing to be one of the few well-received video game adaptations, but it also gave players of the 2010 hit Fallout: New Vegas some new content from the dusty wasteland so beloved by fans of the series. There was indeed quite a bit of hype about the season due to its setting, and that sentiment only grew with the cryptic timer the showrunners released on that synced up with the final episode of the season. Fans were abuzz with the idea that it could have been the time that Bethesda finally announced an Oblivion-style remaster or remake of one of the two pre-Fallout 4 games. That didn’t turn out to be the case though. Instead, the timer’s conclusion led only to an exclusive behind-the-scenes event, which left some disappointed. However, just a few days ago, fans’ ears perked up once again as Iron Galaxy Studios, a collaborator with Bethesda, put out a post that seemed to tease work on some Fallout related project.

Fans thought this might be because, as seen above in the photo, the image on the monitor of the “please stand by” slide is taken straight out from one of the loading screens in New Vegas. And the copy of the post suggests that perhaps this was related to some project that was “coming up next” for the company. Iron Galaxy Studios has previously provided support for Skyrim and Fallout 76, so perhaps it wasn’t that far fetched for fans to assume their teasing of such an endeavor, but that is unfortunately likely not the case. Just today, the developers stated that that just isn’t happening.

Though true to the boundless reaches of the indomitable human spirit that seems to pop up in the various fandoms of long-abandoned critically acclaimed game series, some of the replies to the post don’t quite believe Iron Galaxy’s denial. They did cheekily mention their adoration for Fallout–but that really does nothing to dispel their statement. Perhaps some other studio will take the mantle of crafting a worthy successor or remaster.

Julian Ebert: Although I graduated with a major in film, video games hold a special place in my heart. I love games with atmosphere, immersion, and tense gameplay loops, so my favorite games gravitate toward horror and survival shooter greats like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and the Resident Evil series. When I’m not enjoying one of those, I like to read science fiction and check movies off of my “to watch” list.
