Fallout 76’s ‘Country Roads’ on iTunes; Benefiting Charity

The cover of the legendary and late John Denver song, ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads’, has most likely been heard by a large part of the gaming community. That cover that was used for the Fallout 76 trailer is now available on iTunes as of yesterday for the price of one dollar. As a special bonus, all proceeds from the song’s sales will go to the charity Habitat for Humanity.

A few weeks ago, Bethesda made an official announcement on their Twitter feed:

Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit organization that was founded in 1976. Primarily based in Georgia, they are devoted to their work creating affordable housing built with combination of volunteer labor and the future owner’s sweat equity (the owners contributing to the project via labor building their future home). They’ve been active in about 70 countries and have built homes for about 13 million people. Habitat for Humanity has a variety of affiliated organizations in West Virginia, the location that Fallout 76 will take place. Among these is the fittingly named ‘Almost Heaven.’

As well as giving people access to the song for only a dollar, the iTunes listing also allows us to see just who made this cover. For some time, it was assumed Greg Priester sang it because of a cover he posted back in 2016. However, he previously stated that he wasn’t the creator of this cover.

The cover is actually the product of a New York-based music production shop called Copilot Music + Sound. As well as making the cover of ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads,’ they’ve also worked on one of the trailers for Wolfenstein 2: The New Order.

Fallout 76 will be released November 14, 2018, for Xbox One, Windows, and PlayStation 4. As of now, there currently won’t be any cross-platform play due to Sony’s reluctance, according to Todd Howard. A beta is scheduled for release later this year.
