Fallout 76 Wastelanders is on its way, and Bethesda has released a new trailer showcasing the expansion of its online RPG. The base game was released back in 2018 and this new update promises to overhaul the multiplayer experience and rejuvenate gameplay. Wastelanders is free for Fallout 76 players and available across all platforms starting April 14th.
The trailer showcases new NPCs, a revamped story, and a branching narrative lead by the fully voiced new characters. This will be the largest Fallout 76 update, and is targeted at veteran and first-time players alike! In their press release, Bethesda discusses the new campaign saying, “Players will forge alliances with new factions in an effort to uncover the secrets of West Virginia, either in groups with friends or solo as a lone wanderer.” Hearing this and seeing the new trailer paints a clear picture of what players can expect from Wastelanders.
The premise for the campaign follows as rumors of a treasure buried in Appalachia attract those from all over, with everyone fighting to get a piece of it. The sudden influx of “settlers” (given examples being cultists and bandits) aid the spread of disease, adding another layer to the conflict. A new reputation system will follow players as they maneuver within the story and interact with new characters and factions. The trailer also teases an apparent fighting ring, with players taking on some kind of monster. Brand new quests, companion characters, and even some romance options are all packed into the Wastelanders update.
Originally meant to release on April 7th, the update had to be pushed back when the developers were forced to begin working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Only a week out from their original date, Fallout 76 Wastelanders will go live on April 14th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One users!
