It seems almost improbable considering the state that it originally launched in, but Bethesda seems to have turned things around for Fallout 76. The studio has announced that the online RPG has now amassed more than 17 million players, a huge turnaround from more than five years ago. In addition, the studio revealed that they will be launching a map expansion that will increase the overworld map, and giving us even more content to explore. This map increase is slated to be released sometime in 2024.
In their post, Art Director Jon Rush states that this new map expansion will focus on the region of Shenandoah and will have new factions, questlines, and rewards. Rush also included a teaser image which shows us a red beam coming out of a cyclone in the sky decimating everything in its path. We also see a new potential Vault with the number 63 on it, and anyone who’s played a Fallout title knows that Vault exploring is one of the most unique experiences in the entire series.
Rush also mentions that the second part of the Atlantic City will be coming in 2024 as well, as part of the Expeditions. Bethesda has been releasing these Expeditions as additional content, which included The Pitt, Union Dues, Poke the Beehive, and Ashes to Fire, all of which take place outside of the normal world map. As we stated earlier, Bethesda’s commitment to keeping the game afloat, and continuing to update and patch it as much as possible has paid off in spades. The title is now one of their premiere experiences and has grown exponentially over these past five years. With even more content soon to come, we can only imagine that more players will jump on the bandwagon and make the trip into Fallout 76 over the course of 2024.
