Announced early in the week via their website, gaming titan developers at Bethesda Game Studios released double whammy for their award winning fourth installation of their post-apocalyptic, RPG series, Fallout 4. Previously reported, Fallout 4 is receiving a pretty big, and highly anticipated, expansion called Far Harbor. Set in the scenic and iconic setting of Maine, the game’s Art Director, Matt Carofano, explains the environment choice as:
Maine has this very rocky, rough terrain and a dramatic coastline. We thought the rugged setting should inform how the characters are up there. They need to be more survivalist to live in the colder north, with its harsh environment.
Not to keep us in the dark nor in suspense, Bethesda officials released both the full trailer showcasing what we can expect in Fallout’s expansion future, and also the launch date! Fallout 4 Far Harbor will be available for download worldwide on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC as of today, Thursday, May 19th.
Far Harbor is not a friendly place. The town’s inhabitants don’t trust you. Monstrous creatures lay in wait around every corner. Even the island itself can kill you.
The expansion is included with a purchase of Fallout 4’s $50 DLC pass, or can be downloaded on its own for $25.
This marks the series’ first step into the throne of America’s East Coast, with developers at Bethesda doing what it is they do best: zaney, on-point, off-the-wall world building. Truly, Bethesda went all out, and the effort shows even in early concepts as artists delve imaginatively into the culture of traditional Bay-town, East Coast America.
Fans can look forward to new content on top of familiar, well-loved content. The new setting aside, Bethesda brings to the table: new enemies, new characters, new (but still compelling) plotlines and tough decisions (continuing the trend of well-done, heavy role playing elements), new armor, new weapons, new puzzles and challenges, and so much more! With such experts in game world-building, we know Bethesda has gone out of their way to craft a truly immersive, and terrifying, experience.
Everything was designed with the feral island and the roiling sea in mind.
