If any title is considered the “surprise hit” of 2020, it’s arguably Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. The cute, funny, and fun to play last man standing title has become an inexplicable sensation in the video game community, so much so that the developer, England based Mediatonic, were completely unprepared for the onslaught of day-one players as the servers crashed almost right away. Regardless of that, Mediatonic and its publisher Devolver Digital, have found unbelievable success with this new IP, and they have announced that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has now sold roughly 2 million digital copies through Steam. It’s important to note that the game has been out for less than a week, six days to be exact.
The incredible team @Mediatonic and the super chill @FallGuysGame community have put up some wild numbers in just one week!

As you can see in the above tweet, the game has achieved other milestones within the same time span. Over 60 million players have fallen in the game already, 1.5 million have grabbed crowns, and of course, the game has become an extreme focal point on Twitch, garnering roughly 23 million hours watched on multiple streams. On the first day of Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout’s release, the game hit more than 120 thousand concurrent players across both the PlayStation 4 and Steam player base. Steam on its own had roughly 56 thousand players at one point.
With these insane statistics happening in less than a seven-day cycle, it’s safe to assume that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is one of the biggest hits of the year. It even beat out Horizon Zero Dawn which launched for PC on Steam that very same week. It also helps the game is available for the PlayStation 4 through PlayStation Plus as one of the free titles you can download and keep. For those who aren’t aware, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout combines the battle royale mechanic with both the racing genre and the platforming genre. You control little beans, yes actual running beans, as you try to complete objectives on an obstacle course against several other beans.
The result is one of the most enjoyable experiences of 2020, and with a half a year left to go on, we expect those statistics to go up for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout exponentially. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now for the PlayStation 4 and PC through Steam.
