Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has quickly become one of the biggest video game sensations of the year. In less than a month the game has not only become one of the most popular titles of 2020, but also generated an insane amount of numbers and other statistics for the developer and publisher, Mediatonic and Devolver Digital respectively. This includes selling more than 2 million digital units on Steam in under week, a false mobile port that the studio has claimed is not real, and a second season that was recently announced. Now the game has two additional accolades to add to its resume; it is now the most downloaded PS Plus title of all time, and it has also sold 7 million digital copies on Steam.
Keep in mind that this game has been available for less than a month and it was able to achieve these two specific feats in such a short order. To say that this is an amazing accomplishment is an understatement. Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was made available for the PS Plus program immediately when it launched, which more than likely hastened the unprecedented status. Sony hasn’t detailed just how many times Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was downloaded for the PlayStation 4, but it’s more than likely to have been an extremely high number as a good majority of PS Plus titles have also been some well known AAA games throughout the years.
As for Steam, it actually doesn’t come as a huge surprise that it was able to sell so quickly after it’s initial 5-day rampage that shot it to the top three in the sales charts. It also helps that the game has been heavily featured on Twitch, the dominant gaming stream site, where thousands of streamers are playing it almost 24/7. With more content on the way, we can’t even begin to fathom just how much the game’s statistics will increase by the time we get to the 2020 holiday season.
