Falcon Age Launched Compatible For PlayStation 4 and PSVR

While there is no argument that virtual and augmented reality still have a ways to go in the gaming world, strides are continually made. Today, another stride was taken by Outerloop Games with the launch of Falcon Age. This first, person adventure game was not reported on very much in the days before its release aside from its reveal trailer back in August of 2018. But now, with PlayStation VR capability, Falcon Age has launched with a breathtaking video that gives a sneak peek into what players will need to utilize whether in or out of VR.

In Falcon Age, players will take control of Ara, the heroine that will learn to gather resources, hunt wildlife, and battle against anything that stands in her way of reclaiming her cultural legacy. This will be done by using the “lost art of falcon hunting against a force of automated colonizers.” As shown by the trailer, the Ara’s falcon is not only a sidekick, but a tool to conquer challenges in the world. Each bird can be named, fed, customized with items, trained specific methods, and interact as a companion would with any loyal animal. Farming, hunting, and cooking are also important in feeding, healing, improving, and “buffing” Ara’s bird.

The story behind Falcon Age is that Ara’s culture has been destroyed on a dying colony planet by its machine colonizers. She is able to escape these machines’ prison by befriended a falcon youth and they begin their mission of resistance and freedom. Combat with these machines will require tools and the smart use of your falcon, however the entire game can be put into Imprint Mode that makes combat completely optional for an experience that focuses solely on exploration. Regardless of how players decide to play, they will need to overcome challenges to reclaim lands from the colonizing faction in order to build back up what Ara’s community to its former glory.

Falcon Age is available now for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR.
