Fake Colours Launches Greenlight Campaign

Following their success on Android/Ouya, Fortnight Entertainment is hoping their block-rolling puzzler Fake Colours will find equal footing on Steam’s marketplace.

We have… ways… of making you pronounce the letter “U”….

Take one part cubes. Mix thoroughly with primary colors and a smattering of 3D graphics. Add a topping of Tron light cycles, then finish everything off with a logic puzzle glaze. Serves 75 million.

This is, in essence, what Fake Colours (because English English is the best English) is. You have colored cubes, a play field, and a series of goals. Cubes can only traverse neutral or same-colored spaces on the board or roll over each other. Using these two mechanics, players must figure out a whole host of logic puzzles. On occasion a  new mechanic — such as blocks that change a cube’s color — will shake up the basics, but at its heart Fake Colours is a simple concept that utilizes 3D space and clever design to unleash a pretty unique puzzle experience on its players.

Fake Colours first launched for Android and the undersupported OUYA platform, where Fortnight Entertainment received good response to their game. Now, though, the team is looking to expand their coverage to include the PC market, and like any game seeking to overcome the PC audience they have chosen as their staging ground that most notable of digital services: Steam. In the game’s first day alone the team received over 200 upvotes on the Greenlight service, an excellent start for any game, but they still have some time yet before they achieve their dreams of total cubioid domination.

Of course, if you’d like, you can help and vote for them. Puzzle games are a fairly underrepresented genre on Steam, so every new entry to the scene is nothing if not a good thing.

Still on the fence? Maybe a trailer will help:

So far response from the Steam community to Fake Colours’ campaign has been positive, raisin hope that the game will achieve its Greenlight goals soon. The sooner it does, the sooner it will be playable, and the sooner the headaches will start when you spend hours trying to figure out that one puzzle that just keeps you stumped.

Vote for Fake Colours. You know you want to.
