From the development team that brought Sunless Seas and more recently Sunless Skies, Failbetter Games is streamlining the second annual #loveindies celebration. This still very new event’s purpose is to bring together players and independent game creators to share ideas and discover new games that may not be in the spotlight at the time. Beginning tomorrow, the event will run for two weeks from June 3 through June 14 because of the warm reception that it met last year. Failbetter Games welcomes all to the celebration and has some new parts of the event this year as well.
The Love Indies is not a conventional event that people may think of, like a comic convention for example. Instead, it is exclusively online across individually owned platforms on Steam, email, social media, and whatever else indie devs can think of to help spread the word. There are three main components that make up the event starting with writing reviews. By writing and sharing reviews, as players and indie developers, and using the hashtag #loveindies the discovery of all participating games escalates dramatically and brings more and more eyes. The second element is following indie developers on Steam, since that is typically the platform that most indies are released on. Failbetter will be creating a long thread of Steam publisher pages for developers that are involved. Third, the new addition to this year will be the Review Hour. For one hour on June 8 Failbetter is pushing for all developers and players alike to review as many independent games as possible from their library in short form. The big push in the middle of the event is to keep the momentum going for the remainder of the two weeks.
Failbetter is welcoming all indie developers to take part and put their stamp in the community. All that they are asking is that devs tweet that they are taking part and how they are willing to participate, such as streams, reviews, and interviews.
