Ezio of Assassin’s Creed and Cobra Commander Join The Toy Soldiers: War Chest Roster

With the first installment of the Toy Soldiers franchise launched in 2010 as an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive title, the series has moved up from its humble beginnings. The game was a relatively well polished multiplayer tower defense game that staged battles fought between toy soldiers defending their toy boxes.

Since then, the series has gained a bit of a following and the next big release, Toy Soldiers: War Chest, is one the developers at Signal Studios hope to draw in fans in droves. While the game features four unlicensed playable factions, Phantom, Dark Lord, Kaiser and Starbright, they are spicing up the action with some more well-known heroes. In June, publisher Ubisoft revealed day one DLC for the game that granted access to two licensed factions: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and G.I. Joe.

Back when He-Man and G.I. Joe were announced, however, Ubisoft mentioned there were two more licensed factions left to make their debuts. Those factions were just announced, and players can look forward to playing as Cobra Commander along with his armies as well as Ezio Auditore da Firenze of the Assassin’s Creed franchise with the assassin’s brotherhood at his side. The method of acquiring these two pairs of factions varies, however.

Ezio and Cobra Commander were announced alongside a sort of collector’s edition of the game. Ubisoft calls it the Hall of Fame Edition and it will cost a bit extra. This development leaves the list of purchase options as follows: $14.99 for the standalone game (4 unlicensed factions only) or $29.99 for the Hall of Fame Edition (includes all 4 licensed factions). Players can purchase the licensed factions separately for $4.99 each or $14.99 for all four as a bundle. Note that the only way you’d need to pay more than ~$30 is if you purchase the DLC factions separately.

I’ll leave you with the first commentated demo of the game. Expect to see it released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC before the end of 2015.
