Explore Deckard’s Apartment in Blade Runner 9732

Blade Runner fans have something new to be excited about in 2018. The cult classic sci-fi film series based on Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sleep saw a resurgence last year with the release of Blade Runner 2049.

Blade Runner 2049 released its own VR experience for the Oculus Rift. Two free-to-play adventures titled Replicant Pursuit and Memory Lab promised to “bring the blade runner universe to you like never before.” Obviously these were focused on the new world of Blade Runner 2049. Developer Quentin Lengele wanted to create an experience for fans of the original film.

His journey started in 2014 with a desire to recreate a virtual version of his favorite scene from Blade Runner. One year ago he debuted the first footage of Blade Runner 9732, an experience that allows fans to tour a carefully crafted replica of protagonist Rick Deckard’s apartment from the original Blade Runner film. In November, Lengele finally released new footage of the game with improved assets and lighting.

For anyone who isn’t a super fan of the original 1982 film, 9732 is Deckard’s apartment number in the film. Players will be allowed to explore a beautifully digitized version of his bleak hideaway and examine certain points of interest. While it has primarily been teased as a VR experience, the game can also be explored in first-person mode. As of now, the VR version will only be available with the HTC Vive.

Lengele hopes to expand the experience as development continues, adding origami, whiskey bottles, and even a model of Rachel. For now, fans can enjoy a trip down memory lane and an interesting new way to look at some of the scenes from the original film.

For more information check out the developer’s website. Blade Runner 9732 will be available on Steam on January 7.
